Children’s Centres
East Thames runs seven childrens centres which provide a complete service for parents, carers and children under five, in Epping Forest. Services range from stay and play sessions to information on local services for families. Promoting the parents role as facilitators of their children’s learning and development is backed up by training opportunities and other services for the parents and carers themselves.
Each centre offers slightly varying services to families, including:
- A welcoming environment for parents and children
- Fun activities for parents and children to complete together
- Activity groups and networks
- Support and advice for parents
- Training opportunities for adults with crèche facilities
- Information about childcare
- Links to Jobcentre Plus and other local services and agencies
- Outreach support services
We also work with carers, the local authority, health services, Job Centre Plus, training providers and community organisations to provide you with help and information, free of charge.
Each centre tailors their services to families in their area. So when some of the mums at our centre in Hazelwood told us that there weren’t enough opportunities for dads to spend time with their children, we organised a Dad’s Day for dads to help their children make gifts for Mother’s Day.
