We're always looking for corporate partners who can support the work we do with residents and other people in east London. If you’d like to partner with us, call Russ McLean, Fundraising Manager on 020 8536 3982 or email email@example.com.
Here are some examples of what we've achieved with partners past and present.
Trowers & Hamlins
For more than 10 years we have partnered with international law firm Trowers & Hamlins to support people back into work. As part of our Routes to Work programme which helps people get the confidence and skills to get back into work, Trowers & Hamlins sponsors two work placement programmes every year. For two weeks the London team hosts up to ten Routes to Work participants, providing both mentoring and training.
“The Trowers team really understand the challenges of getting back into work. The programme they offer is really professional, but they also do extra things like providing a new suit for each of the participants, so that they really have a good chance at their next interview.”
Since 2010 Barclays has sponsored a mentoring programme for young people aged under 25. The Barclays team wanted to do more than just sponsor the programme, they wanted to be part of it. So we trained a team of Barclays mentors who now give their time every fortnight throughout a three month programme. They provide mentoring about employment, life skills, confidence and lifestyle. The programme kicks off with a ‘speed dating’ style meet and greet to allow the mentors and mentees to select the best match.
“Canary Wharf can seem like an exclusive and intimidating place for many young people. The Barclays team have made it more accessible and friendly and their mentoring really gives the young people the confidence to seek out new opportunities and belief in themselves.”
The Blackwood Group is an independent executive search firm who hold an annual Christmas charity auction. We were both surprised and excited when they donated the money raised - more than £5,000 - to East Potential.
“This is our first Christmas and New Year together and it’s so lovely that the Blackwood Group have taken the time out to make it so special for us all. We’re very grateful - they don’t know what this means to us, it’s definitely going to be a happy new year.” Young mother Zaianb.
The Blackwood Group’s experience…
“We are only at the beginning of our relationship with East Thames but we have already been deeply impressed by both the quality of their work and the scope of people they help. We are looking forward to continuing to work with them and support their work within the community.”
“We can’t thank the Blackwood Group enough for their generosity and support. The actions their staff took to raise the funds is admirable and their donation has already made a difference to the service we provide to local young people to enable them to reach their full potential.’’ June Barnes, East Thames Chief Executive.
Bow Arts Trust
As partners and neighbours, East Thames and the Bow Arts Trust are proud to be working together to make east London a great place to live.
The unique partnership between the two organisations is based around a simple model: East Thames provides space for a series of artists' studios at our Taylor Place estate. Bow Arts manages these spaces, bringing in rental income from the artists. A proportion of the rent is then used to fund a programme of inspirational learning opportunities for children and young people and their communities in the local area.
In addition all East Thames residents have access to http://www.londonsartistquarter.org/, east London’s cultural portal. East London is home to one of the largest number of working artists, arts organisations and galleries in the world. London’s Artist Quarter is a great way for local people to find out what is going on in their area, find opportunities and work in the arts and have the chance to list your own events all for free.
You can find more information about Bow Arts at http://www.bowarts.org.
