About Drapers City foyer

Units: 20 rooms with shared facilities and 21 self-contained flats

Drapers City foyer is based in Bethnal Green, east London and provides the young people who live at the foyer with a wide range of support and development opportunities. The foyer itself is based in an old Victorian School, which is a listed building. As well as training services offered by the foyer, young people are also able to access the services of the Weavers Restaurant Trust which operates the community café and UK Online Centre on the ground floor.

Lifeskills

The lifeskills training sessions include:

Verbal reasoning, which help develop communication skills

  • Cooking on a budget
  • Boxercise for women
  • Money Management training
  • Workshops in creative activities such as arts and design.

Careers Action Planning and Work Placement

Careers action planning session and work placements are available to young people living in Tower Hamlets, this service is not just for residents of the foyer but any young person in the borough.

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

ESOL sessions are aimed at assisting young people aged between 16-24 for whom English is not their first language. The sessions improve communication both written and verbally. This is offered to young people in the Foyer and around the local area.

Learning Power Award

By completing the Learning Power Award young people will gain a City & Guilds qualification.

We also offer young people the chance to attend basic skills and study support Sessions within the Foyer. This is offered to young people in the Foyer and around the local area.
