Fully completed in June 2013, Dreywood Gardens, located in Havering, Essex is a brand new retirement community designed specifically for residents aged 55 and over. The scheme is made up of 78 apartments for social rent and 20 for shared ownership and includes onsite personal care and support for those who need it.
The one and two bedroom apartments at Dreywood have been designed to a high specification and built to Lifetime Standards, providing smart, easy to maintain accommodation in a secure environment. In addition, the whole project includes renewable energy generation through the use of photovoltaic roof panels. All apartments are finished to a high standard and benefit from high quality insulation and modern heating systems to help keep fuel bills low. All flats are also equipped with energy efficient washer/dryers.
Keeping future residents in mind throughout the design process, adaptations such as hand rails and lever taps have been included as standard in all the scheme’s apartments. Each home has its own balcony or terrace giving residents the option of private outdoor space.
Residents at Dreywood Gardens will benefit from a wealth of onsite communal facilities and activities that can be enjoyed with visiting friends, family or neighbours. Designed to create a great community atmosphere and to promote independence and wellbeing, onsite activities and facilities include:
library and hobby room
electric scooter charging bays
large lounge and three outdoor terrace areas for catching up with friends
comfortable seating areas and self-service drink making facilities including instant boiling water
five informal seating areas
guest suite for visiting family and friends
In addition, all residents can make use of the guest room in the main block which can be booked for use by family and friends that are visiting. The room has one double bed, one double sofa bed and an en suite bathroom.
Dreywood Gardens is designed to provide residents with a new lease of life in a calm environment where they can enjoy their own home as well as being part of a wider community. Onsite personal care and support is available around the clock. This support can be tailored to needs and adapted throughout later life.
The scheme’s care provision, commissioned by the London Borough of Havering, is provided by Sanctuary Care and delivers a bespoke, person centred service to ensure comfort, health and well-being throughout later life. Our aim is to ensure that residents can enjoy their own home and independence within a community of people of similar age whatever their needs and aspirations. Our flexible approach means that we can help whether residents just need some advice, help with recovery after an illness or operation, right through to 24 hour support for those who require more intensive assistance, all available either from the time they arrive or should the need arise in the future.
