A brand new retirement community for Havering

East Thames, in partnership with the London Borough of Havering, will be launching a new retirement community, Dreywood Gardens, in March 2013.

Dreywood Gardens, located in Gidea Park, offers 78 apartments for social rent and 20 apartments for shared ownership for those aged 55 and over, with onsite personal care and support for those who need it. The bespoke, person-centred support can be tailored to changing needs throughout later life.

Residents at Dreywood Gardens will benefit from a wealth of onsite communal facilities and activities that can be enjoyed with visiting friends and family or with neighbours. Designed to create a great community atmosphere and to promote independence and wellbeing, the onsite activities and facilities include:

• large lounge and three outdoor terrace areas for catching up with friends
• restaurant
• guest suite for visiting family and friends
• hairdressers
• spa bathroom
• electric scooter charging bays

The one and two bedroom apartments available at Dreywood Gardens have been designed to a high specification and built to Lifetime Standards, with adaptations such as hand rails and lever taps as standard. Each apartment has its own balcony or terrace and all homes will benefit from high quality insulation and modern heating systems to keep fuel bills low.

Councillor Steven Kelly, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Individuals said: “The new scheme will focus on helping older people to keep their independence while giving them the reassurance that help is available if they need it.
