About Focus E15
Opened: 1996
Units: 210 self-contained, including 16 flats for young parents
Focus E15 Foyer is the largest foyer in the UK and provides services to the young people of the London Borough of Newham on both a residential or non-residential basis.
Since opening in 1996, Focus E15 has been at the forefront of developing initiatives such as instigating a mandatory accredited lifeskills programme for residents. Focus E15 also has an open door service for young people living in Newham who want to access our employment and training services.
Focus E15 offers a wide range of training, development and support opportunities to young people, such as:
Lifeskills
The lifeskills training sessions offered vary from health related sessions such as:
- alcohol awareness
- contraception
- sexual health
- masterclasses on how to be the one that gets the job
- workshops exploring various issues through drama
We also have programmes of dance, singing and graffiti art which have all proven very successful in capturing the creative interests of the young people who use Focus E15.
We have developed a Media Centre funded by the Foyer Federation at Focus E15 which enables young people within the Foyer and the local community to access video and film making and editing equipment and to access jobs and training opportunities in the Media Sector.
The lifeskills programme is available to local young people who do not live at the foyer but who might be visiting friends or family members who do.
Young Parents Support
We offer 16 of our accommodation units to young parents. We provide services through the normal key working procedures supplemented by a dedicated young parents support worker.
Residents have access to specialist lifeskills sessions including Nutrition for Babies, Keeping your Baby Healthy and Parenting Skills. We have a toy library for parents and a play area for their children.
