Get involved

Getting our residents involved is important to us
Resident involvement has always been important to us at East Thames. It’s important because we want to make sure our residents are happy with the services we provide and the way we work. By involving you in the decisions we make, you get to have your say and help shape the way we work, while we learn how to improve our services and work more effectively.
Our vision for resident involvement is that by 2015 we will have put residents at the heart of our business, engaging them meaningfully so they drive local and strategic improvement in our housing services
Your feedback
To find out what you wanted from our new resident involvement approach, we spent around five months talking to residents and asking how we can do more to get you involved. We had an amazing response and received almost 1,000 completed surveys. We also knocked on doors, held surgeries and introduced a resident blog - http://residentvoice.wordpress.com/ - which has had over 1400 hits so far. And we also ran workshops with residents that we haven’t worked with before, so that we could discuss our new resident involvement approach.
The consultation period for the resident involvement strategy has now finished and we’d like to say a huge thank you to all of you who took time out to give us your views. As a result, we’ve put a new resident involvement strategy in place.
The resident feedback we got from the consultation told us that you want:
- One main resident involvement group, rather than lots of separate groups and panels
- More opportunities to get involved at a local level
- Resident inspectors and mystery shoppers to check the quality of our services
- Formal feedback from active residents
- Resident members of the East Homes board
As a result of your feedback we’ve changed our resident involvement approach to be simpler, with a variety of ways to have your say, so that more of you can tell us what you think. Read more about our new approach here.
