Learning and development

We are completely committed to encouraging our staff to learn and grow through learning and development. We have the Investor in People accreditation and our investment in learning and development is among the highest in the housing sector.

A high percentage of job vacancies are filled by developing and promoting staff and we are passionate and care about the development of all employees.

When you first join

All new starters take part in a comprehensive Group induction, finding out more about our mission, values and aims; what the Group offers its staff; and what you can expect as an employee. You’ll also meet the Chief Executive and see first-hand some of the services we offer in the community. You will also have a full workplace induction with your line manager and colleagues to help you settle in and understand your job.

Ongoing learning and development

We offer a variety of learning and development opportunities in a range of styles including e-learning, workshops and courses.

We run excellent in-house training courses covering a wide variety of subjects. We also support staff who wish to attend training courses run by other organisations.

Our aim is to constantly refresh all the learning courses we provide and we work to ensure that they are relevant, challenging, high quality and fun.

There may be some courses that you will need to do because of the type of job you will doing, for example Diploma courses. Your manager will identify these with you.

We encourage all employees to participate in learning as part of the day job.

Professional and formal management development

Managers are encouraged to build on existing skills and develop new ones.
We support staff who wish to develop their management skills in a number of ways. In addition to our management development programmes, many staff are sponsored each year to attend university and college-level programmes that may lead to formal qualifications such as degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
