Don’t suffer in silence – domestic violence services during the Olympic Games

Research has shown that cases of domestic violence increase during major sporting events, so Newham Council is extending its domestic violence help service throughout the Games.

Police staff, solicitors and members of charities including Rape Crisis and Newham Action Against Domestic Violence will be on hand to help anyone experiencing physical attacks, emotional abuse, harassment, stalking, threats, financial control, sexual abuse, forced marriage and honour-based violence.

The help centre, based at the Grove in Stratford, is usually available on a Monday morning, but for the duration of the Games, right up until Thursday 13 September, the centre will be open Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm and Saturday, 10am to 1pm.
