East Thames joins forces with residents to promote Noise Action Week

We recently joined forces with our residents to produce a short film to promote Noise Action Week 21-25 May 2012.
Together we worked with residents on the production of a 5 minute film to educate people about the affects noise nuisance can have on personal wellbeing and increase awareness of the types of support available from their housing provider and local council.
East Thames Central Services Manager Dominique Mathurine said: “Noise nuisance can have a huge impact on peoples lives. By producing this film as well as our poster campaigns we hope that our residents will understand that it is a serious matter and one that can be solved with the right attitude and level of communication with their neighbours and their landlord.”
Noise can cause disruption and distress to everyone - at home, at leisure, at work and at study. National research3 shows that two fifths of the population say noise affects their quality of life and in 2008 around half a million people (1%) said they had moved home because of noisy neighbours. This was more of a problem in the private rented sector, where 4% said they had moved because of noisy neighbours.
