Housing association, East Thames has commenced work to redevelop a vacant office block at the heart of Stratford Town Centre. The exciting new development has been made possible thanks to £0.88m funding from the Mayor of London. The new build at Stratford Broadway will bring 44 one, two and three bedroom flats to the area including 22 homes for social rent and 22 for market rent.
Designed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) and constructed by Willmott Dixon, the development will have an atrium layout and will feature two retail units which will provide a hub of activity for the Broadway and contribute to job creation and the local Stratford economy.
Geoff Pearce, Director of Development and Planning at East Thames said, “East Thames is proud to be a part of Stratford’s continued regeneration and is passionate about improving the communities we work in. Providing new homes and retail space at Stratford Broadway is testament to that.”
Cllr Richard Crawford, ward councillor for Stratford and New Town said, “I’m delighted I had the opportunity to visit the site this week. It’s an exciting new development that is part of our wider plan to regenerate Stratford High Street, making it a more appealing place for people to live, work and play.”
The new development is just one of the projects East Thames is working on in the Stratford area with planning permission recently gained for over 1,000 new homes at Chobham Farm and work already underway at Stratford Plaza, a partnership project with Telford Homes. Residents will also soon move into the 1,379 affordable homes at East Village which will be managed by Triathlon Homes - a partnership between East Thames Southern Housing Group and First Base.
Work at is now underway and is due to be completed at the end of 2014.
