About Redbridge foyer

Opened: December 2001
Units: 70 self-contained flats, including 8 flats for young parents

Redbridge foyer is based in Ilford, Essex and provides the young people who live at the foyer with a wide range of support and development opportunities. As well as providing services to Foyer residents, the Foyer provides services to non-residents through our local partnerships.

The foyer provides access to an IT suite for the young people of Redbridge. At the front of the Foyer is an advice shop, Ilfomation, which is part of the local Connexions strategy.

Redbridge foyer also works closely with other local agencies that provide training and advice services, such as:

  • London Borough of Redbridge
  • Connexions
  • Ilfomation
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Brook
  • Victim Support

The foyer offers a wide range of training, development and support opportunities to young people, such as:

Ilfomation

Ilfomation is a one-stop information shop for the young people and provides access to a wide variety of services and information based on the needs of young people.

Lifeskills

The lifeskills training sessions at Redbridge foyer vary according to the interests of the young people who access them, but often relate to creative fields.

Careers Action Planning and Work Placement

We also offer a careers action planning session and work placements for any young people living in Redbridge; again this service is not just for residents of the foyer but any young person in the borough.

Young Parents Support

In 2005, Redbridge foyer opened a newly built accommodation scheme for young parents and their children. The scheme accommodates eight young parents who follow a programme which includes the lifeskills programme and a complementary programme which covers good parenting skills.

A creche is provided on-site for residents to leave their children whilst they attend their programme sessions. The scheme accepts both young mothers and fathers referred by the Redbridge Housing Advice Centre.

Beal High School

In partnership with Beal High School, we delivery various arts programmes to foyer residents and pupils of the school. Beal High School has been awarded Specialist School status in the media and arts by the Department for Education and Skills. Projects have included a digital media course which foyer residents used towards their City and Guilds accredited Learning Power Award.
