Barking and Dagenham
East Thames and Barking and Dagenham Council are working on a major regeneration project at Gascoigne Estate, Barking. The Gascoigne East Masterplan which will create 1,575 new homes, a secondary and primary school, green spaces and community centre over the next nine years.
The first 190 new homes will become available by 2018. Designed by architects Levitt Bernstein and Allies & Morrison, the new homes will range from one to four bedrooms, and will be available through affordable rent, shared ownership and private sale.
The East Thames Consortium was appointed in early 2010 to work with Tower Hamlets Council on a £200m regeneration project in Stepney. The award winning project has created more than 800 new homes and refurbished more than 1,000 council homes to date. Delivered in partnership with East Thames, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Bellway Homes, the project has seen the complete transformation of the Stepney area.
The next stage of the development, which will be the final phase of the regeneration, will see 120 run down homes replaced with 225 new sustainable apartments and maisonettes. These homes are likely to be available early 2018.
New Union Wharf
Started in 2013, the New Union Wharf estate regeneration will see 189 homes on the 1970s built estate replaced with 399 modern homes.
Homes will be available to purchase through Shared Ownership and private sale and the first new homes will be delivered by 2018.
